Nicole delivered her baby boy, Collin, in mid-January. Her pregnancy with Collin was the third time Nicole had entrusted her prenatal care and labor and delivery to the provider team of Dr. Carlos Reyes, Dr. Thomas McNeill, nurse practitioner, Elizabeth Gonzalez, and midwives, Michelle Griner, Darlean Weingarten, and Brandi Haugabook.
Dr. McNeill delivered Nicole’s first son, Joshua, four years ago, and Michelle Griner, APRN, CNM, delivered daughter Evelyn, 2, and most recently Collin.
Throughout Nicole’s years of obstetrical care by the practice, she has met with each physician and midwife. She feels the providers have been warm and caring at every visit, always taking the time to answer her questions. “I have never felt rushed through my visits.”
Nicole also recounts that every staff member from check-in to check-out has been “pleasant, helpful, and professional.” The staff was accommodating to Nicole during her care. Knowing that it is difficult for her to give blood, they would allow Nicole to lay in a room to make her most comfortable. She says the ultrasound tech was amazing and took the time to talk with her while she recorded special ultrasounds for her partner during COVID restrictions. And, of the medical technician who took her blood pressure during routine OB visits, Nicole says, “I love that she remembered me and cared. I wasn’t just another patient.”
“I have used this practice for my prenatal care for all three of my children. That should say a lot! I feel that I have always been listened to and cared for 100%. I have felt as though I am a friend or family member.”
While planning natural childbirths for her second two children, the role of the nurse midwife would be especially important to Nicole. During her prenatal care, Nicole says she felt safe and comfortable, and built a bond with Michelle. During her births at Bayfront Baby Place, Nicole found Michelle’s approach to be vitally helpful. “She made sure I was comfortable with my birthing process. She guided me through it and let do it my way while still doing her job.”
Looking back on her most recent pregnancy experiences, Nicole says, “Michelle is a wonderful midwife and a genuine person. I could not be more thankful for her and our experiences here. She will advocate for her patients and back your wishes.”
Nicole shares fond feelings of the Women’s Care Florida practice that helped bring Joshua, Evelyn, and Collin into her family. “I have used this practice for my prenatal care for all three of my children. That should say a lot! I feel that I have always been listened to and cared for 100%. I have felt as though I am a friend or family member.”
