Hysterectomy Surgery in Florida

Women’s Care provides a hysterectomy to treat a variety of women’s health conditions.

What is a Hysterectomy?

Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes the uterus. It may be performed due to abnormal bleeding, uterine fibroids, or cancer. Depending on the reason for surgery, it may also involve the removal of the fallopian tubes, ovaries, and cervix. During your initial consultation, we will determine whether or not a hysterectomy is right for you, or if there are any alternative treatment methods available.

Are You a Candidate for a Hysterectomy?

Your Women’s Care provider may recommend a hysterectomy if you have any of the following conditions or symptoms:

  • Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
  • Chronic Pelvic Pain
  • Endometriosis
  • Gynecologic Cancer
  • Painful Uterine Fibroids
  • Uterine Prolapse

What are the Different Types of Hysterectomies?

There are four different types of hysterectomies, with each requiring a different surgical technique. Depending on your medical history and reason for surgery, it is either a vaginal, abdominal, or laparoscopic procedure. Your provider will determine the best type of hysterectomy for you, depending on your specific condition. Below are the different types of hysterectomies:

  • Hysterectomy with Oophorectomy: Removal of the uterus, one or both ovaries, and the fallopian tubes.
  • Radical Hysterectomy: Removal of the uterus, cervix, top part of the vagina, and most of the surrounding tissue.
  • Supracervical Hysterectomy: Removal of the upper part of the uterus, leaving the cervix intact.
  • Total Hysterectomy: Removal of the uterus and cervix, but not your ovaries.
